New shortened AK-12 and AK-15 assault rifles from Kalashnikov will arm UAV operators

They can also be used by drivers of armored vehicles, signalmen and other military personnel

New compact and shortened Kalashnikov AK-12 and AK-15 assault rifles are suitable for arming drone operators, according to Sergei Urzhumtsev, chief designer of the Kalashnikov concern.

According to him, subcompact versions are primarily being considered for arming military personnel for whom small arms are not the primary type of weapon.

As for the compact version, it is primarily for special forces units and units performing tasks in a confined space and in the event of personnel being deployed in mobile carriers.
