"Russian Railways" (RZD) has begun testing robot dogs in railway areas that are hazardous for humans, the company's press service reported.
We are exploring the capabilities of biomorphic robots to work in potentially hazardous railway areas. Our "pack" currently consists of only three robot dogs, and scientists from NIIAS are testing them.
The iron dogs are equipped with lidars and cameras for data collection. The received information is automatically sent to the operator's computer.
The autumn series of tests was conducted at heavily loaded stations in the Moscow region. During these tests, it was possible to understand how the robot dogs perform the prescribed algorithm of actions and move around the infrastructure on their paws and wheels. Specialists also checked the autonomous operating time of the "dog" batteries.
The integration of robot dogs into the digital station ecosystem will make it possible to increase the automation of production processes.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russian Railways tested the technology of "virtual coupling" of trains.
