The on-road testing of the LADA Iskra SW Cross prototype has begun in the streets of Togliatti. This was reported by the auto portal RCI News, whose correspondent noticed an unusual car on the road.
The LADA Iskra SW Cross, as noted by RCI News, has a modified radiator grille, original bumper group, increased ground clearance, protective body kit, larger wheels, and special interior trim.
AvtoVAZ has already announced that mass production of LADA Iskra cars will begin in the spring of 2025. Currently, the plant is producing pre-production "project vehicles," of which it assembles three cars per day. Changes have been made to the production process: the use of self-tapping screws has been minimized, and components are mainly attached using plastic clips, brackets, and latches.
It is known that LADA Iskra is built on the localized Renault CMF-B-LS platform. Three powertrain options are provided for them:
- with a 1.6 liter, 90 hp engine with a five-speed manual transmission;
- with a 1.6 liter, 106 hp engine with a six-speed manual transmission;
- with a 1.6 liter, 106 hp engine with a WLY CVT18 variator.
The family will include an SUV, a station wagon, and a sedan, and according to insiders, they will be galvanized for corrosion protection.
