Perm Polytechnic University (PNIPU) has found a way to eliminate 3 major problems in the field of 3D printing. The new technology reduces resource consumption and energy costs, the university's press service reported.
Scientists have identified factors affecting the quality of 3D products. The first is the deformation of the wire in the insulating channel, which leads to a decrease in the frequency of its contact with the deposited surface. The second is layer height shifts due to uneven distribution of impacts on the molten material (leading to defects). The third factor is the change in linear energy (increases wear and tear on printer mechanisms and components).
Experts recommended moving the feed motor closer to the wire accumulator and adding a compensation motor to reduce the risk of material accumulation. To optimize the 3D printing process, scientists suggested using artificial intelligence. It is planned to use it to regulate the temperature and feed rate of the material.
To improve the quality of products, it was also recommended to use special cameras and sensors.
It is necessary to install cameras to accurately determine the location of the defect and correct it on subsequent layers. As for the change in linear energy, the problem requires the use of temperature sensors to automatically adjust production parameters
The new method will improve the quality of products and the production process.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the first "two-headed" 3D printer was created in Vyatka.
