The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Construction want to reduce the number of parking spaces near economy-class housing by 2026. At the same time, it is planned to increase the number of paid parking lots. The rationale for this decision is to reduce automobilization for the development of public transport.

Do you understand? They want to reduce automobilization! Apparently, it is too high in our country.
Maxim Kadakov

The journalist noted that there are 315 cars in Russia per 1000 residents. However, this is not the highest figure. For example, the USA has 800 cars per 1000 residents, Japan has 590, the UK has 470, and Iran has 175.

We don't have many cars – we have few roads, parking lots, interchanges. There is a catastrophic shortage of road network, which was created mainly during the USSR.
Maxim Kadakov

The expert does not understand how the proposals of the two departments are consistent with the plans of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to increase the number of cars in the country. Kadakov is puzzled, because if fewer cars are bought, then why produce them. In addition, not everything is in order with public transport everywhere.
