The State Corporation intends to build and use not only nuclear-powered, but also diesel and diesel-electric icebreakers for the development of the Northern Sea Route. This became known at the EEF.
Over the years, regardless of the level of sanctions pressure, the international demand for the Northern Sea Route will only increase. And this will give us the impetus to build new icebreakers. We have such thoughts, such considerations. Perhaps we will include in the Rosatom management circuit icebreakers not only with nuclear power, but also with other energy sources. Naturally, they will always be environmentally friendly.
The state corporation plans to launch a free highway by 2030, which will help Russian and foreign participants travel along the Northern Sea Route around the clock.
