The launch of the Luna-26 spacecraft may take place ahead of schedule. This scenario was suggested by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.
According to him, the management of Roscosmos noted the possible shift of the deadline from 2027 to 2026.
Currently, work is proceeding according to schedule, based on the basic scenario of launching a new spacecraft in 2027, but the management of Roscosmos did previously note that efforts would be made to shift this deadline to the left, to 2026, if possible.
«Luna-26» is a promising spacecraft designed for remote studies of the surface of the Earth's natural satellite. It will be able to map the distribution of water ice in the lunar soil and map the mineralogical composition of the satellite's surface.
