ВСМ Москва—Санкт-Петербург получит 41 скоростной поезд от ГТЛК

The trains, manufactured by "Ural Locomotives", will be transferred to the concessionaire "HSR Two Capitals"

JSC "State Transport Leasing Company" (GTLK) and "Ural Locomotives" have signed a contract for the construction and supply of 41 high-speed trains for the new railway line between Moscow and St. Petersburg. This project, implemented in cooperation with the concessionaire "HSR Two Capitals", envisages that GTLK will lease the trains for a period of 20 years. Deliveries are scheduled to be completed by 2030.

High-speed traffic will become an important part of Russia's national transport strategy, and the Moscow – St. Petersburg line promises a significant economic effect and improved transport connectivity. The trains will accelerate to 400 km/h with a base speed of 360 km/h and will be designed taking into account the climatic conditions of Russia, allowing operation in the temperature range from -40 to +40°C.

"GTLK" will act as a technical consultant in the construction of the lead train models, and the "Ural Locomotives" plant plans to expand its production capacity to ensure the production of 300 cars per year. The trains will be eight-car trains with the possibility of increasing to 16 cars and will provide up to 450 seats, divided into four comfort classes, including seats for citizens with limited mobility.

The project was officially launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin in March 2024. The 679 km high-speed line will pass through six constituent entities of the Russian Federation, including the Moscow, Tver, Novgorod and Leningrad regions. Travel time between Moscow and St. Petersburg will be reduced to 2 hours 15 minutes, and the frequency of trains will be every 15 minutes.
