Учёные из России улучшили имплант для лечения рака кости

It will eliminate the need for chemotherapy in the fight against this type of cancer

Specialists from the Institute of Physics and Strength of Materials Science of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Tomsk have improved bone implants for the treatment of cancerous tumors. A special coating has been developed for them. When they are used, patients do not require chemotherapy.

Implants are created based on calcium phosphate cement technology. It is similar to natural human bone tissue. A protective polymer was applied to the implants. Thanks to this, the release of the drug from it is slowed down, and it lasts longer.

In the future, the new technology may be used in dentistry and traumatology. It is likely that its use in the treatment of cancer and in other areas of medicine will reduce the side effects that occur in patients.
