At the exhibition in Yekaterinburg, the Roscosmos State Corporation is represented by six of its organizations. RKK Energia is showing Russians and foreign guests one of the most ambitious projects of the domestic space program: the Russian Orbital Station (ROS).
Prior to this, a model of the ROS and its commercial modules could be seen, in particular, at the Dubai Airshow 2023 and at the Russia exhibition, which ended yesterday. Now, in Yekaterinburg, they are showing the full version of the ROS after the second phase of deployment in orbit.
There are six modules at the stand: a universal nodal module, a basic module, a scientific and energy module, two target modules, and a gateway module. A promising commercial free-flying module is located separately.
This module is unique in that it can, if necessary, undock from the ROS for the duration of experiments and scientific research, remain in orbit on its own for some time, and then dock back to the ROS.
Russia will offer such modules to partner countries so that they can lay the foundation for the development of their own space program for manned flights, and develop their national fundamental and applied sciences.
