The State Corporation "Roscosmos", "MIT Corporation", the Titan-Barricades Research and Production Center, and PJSC Gazprom Neft have completed joint industry tests of the first domestic fleet for hydraulic fracturing. This is the main method of increasing oil recovery, without which the development of most fields is impossible.
Until now, Russia did not have its own equipment for its implementation and depended on foreign supplies. Now, the country will be able to produce fleets for hydraulic fracturing independently and accelerate the development of new promising fields.
The equipment was tested at Gazprom Neft facilities in Western Siberia, and the operational characteristics of the domestic equipment and its compliance with industry standards were confirmed.
The Oil and Gas Technological Initiatives Institute has already issued a certificate of readiness for serial production and industrial use to the first Russian fleet for hydraulic fracturing.
Fleet for Hydraulic Fracturing
This is a set of equipment that allows intensifying oil production. Thanks to it, a special liquid is supplied to the oil well at high speed under high pressure.
It ensures inflow from the oil-saturated reservoir by creating a fracture or a network of fractures with a significant filtration area. To prevent these fractures from closing, they are filled with a special proppant agent.
Previously, when implementing this technology, 90% of the equipment for such work was produced abroad. After the strengthening of anti-Russian sanctions, the need arose to create a domestic fleet for hydraulic fracturing.
A number of companies have been working in this direction for several years: in particular, Rosgazburenie and Kreozol. The most successful of these projects was with "MIT Corporation" (part of the Roscosmos Group), which produces strategic missiles "Topol" and "Yars" for the Russian military-industrial complex.
Together with Mekaminneft and Gazprom Neft, MIT signed an agreement on the creation of a complex at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2021. Also, according to data from open sources, other enterprises of the military-industrial complex participated in the creation of the domestic fleet for hydraulic fracturing.
By the end of 2023, the first prototypes of domestic fleets for hydraulic fracturing were sent to Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra for field tests. In April 2024, it became known that they conducted the first operation at one of the oil fields using this equipment.
The delivery of the first serial sample of this product to the customer is scheduled for 2025.
