The first KAMAZ-6282 ONC electric bus with overnight charging has started operating in St. Petersburg.
KAMAZ-6282 ONC can carry up to 85 people, has 35 seats, and its interior fully complies with the "Accessible Environment" program. The electric bus is charged at night, during off-peak hours, at cheaper electricity rates, and does not require ultra-fast charging stations on the routes. In addition, it:
- has an increased capacity of traction batteries and can travel up to 330 km without recharging;
- has lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery packs with an energy capacity of 499 kWh;
- has a synchronous electric motor with permanent magnets as part of an electric portal axle, with a power of 2x180 kW.
The upgraded model of the KAMAZ-6282 "This is an electric bus" was developed specifically for operation on the streets of St. Petersburg and will be tested for a month. If the tests are successful, this "night" electric bus may become the base for the Rzhevka motor depot, which is being launched this year.
