The largest Russian manufacturer of combat, pneumatic, service pistols and self-defense weapons, Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (part of the Kalashnikov concern), will invest over 170 million rubles in the modernization of the tool division. These funds will be used to purchase and install new equipment in the workshop for the manufacture of molds, dies, auxiliary equipment and gauges.
Three machines, including a 5-axis grinding and sharpening machine and two milling processing centers, have been installed in the workshop, and their installation and commissioning are underway. By the end of 2024, two electrical discharge machines and a milling processing center will be put into operation, and at the beginning of 2025, a thread grinding machine will be put into operation. The launch of the new equipment will allow IMZ to independently manufacture volumetric molds and dies, regrind tools, make and repair thread gauges, as well as carry out electrical discharge machining of parts.
The equipment upgrade for this division of the concern is very relevant. In 2023, the tool production division of Kalashnikov increased the total output of products by 28% compared to 2022. At the same time, the workload per worker in the division increased by 26%.
