One of the oldest enterprises in the country - Bryansk Engineering Plant (BMZ) will start serial production of the new mainline freight locomotive 3ТЭ28, which will operate on the Eastern Polygon (covers four railways - Krasnoyarsk, East Siberian, Transbaikal and Far Eastern - editor's note www1.ru).
The management of the plant expects that the corresponding certificate will be obtained by the beginning of November. It is noted that the locomotive is capable of moving trains weighing over 7 thousand tons on the Eastern Polygon, on other sections of the railway - over 10 thousand tons. In terms of components, the 3ТЭ28 is maximally localized.
The experimental model of the locomotive appeared in 2022. At the beginning of this year, it was sent to the Moscow region for certification tests. After receiving the permitting documents, BMZ plans to assemble 30 units of the 3ТЭ28 and hand over to the Russian Railways.
BMZ produces 300 sections of mainline and 240 sections of shunting locomotives per year. Over 3.2 thousand people work at the plant.
