According to the interim report of the Interstate Aviation Committee, the cause of the crash was a spontaneous lowering of the aircraft's nose, which the crew could not handle. The plane crashed into the ground and caught fire.

The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under the article "Violation of safety rules for traffic and operation of air transport, resulting in the death of two or more persons due to negligence." The plane had previously undergone maintenance and was returning to base. The investigation of the incident is ongoing, and there is no final conclusion yet.
