The experimental SJ-100 aircraft with tail number 97023 arrived at Minsk National Airport on September 19. There, specialists from the Flight Test Complex of "Regional Aircraft" (PAO "Yakovlev"), together with representatives of certification centers and the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) Aviation Register, will test the autopilot.
This is the third experimental prototype of the SJ-100 program for import substitution of onboard systems of the original SSJ100.
What is being tested
In 2024, "Yakovlev" and the Moscow Institute of Electromechanics and Automation developed algorithms for automatic and director flight control, as well as engine thrust control. These algorithms operate within the automatic control system as part of the integrated SJ-100 control system.
During takeoff, the automatic control system (ACS) operates in director mode, and in other flight phases, it operates fully automatically. The automatic landing algorithms for ICAO CAT IIIB category control alignment and touchdown, and also keep the aircraft along the runway centerline.
Tests in Minsk, as well as in Novosibirsk, are part of the certification of the import-substituted "Superjet". The management of UAC and "Yakovlev" expects to complete flight tests by the end of 2026. Then the manufacturer will submit evidentiary documentation to Rosaviatsiya for amendments to the type certificate. The processing of documents is expected in the first half of 2027.
