The new Russian aircraft MS-21 and SJ-100 deserve to bear the names of the great designers Alexander Yakovlev and Pavel Sukhoi. This was stated by Elena Yampolskaya, advisor to the President of the Russian Federation.
She reminded that both airliners were developed at factories named after Alexander Yakovlev and Pavel Sukhoi.
It seems to me that the return of the names "Su", "Yak" would be more suitable for the newest domestic airliners. It would be great if aircraft developers, everyone who works in our domestic aviation and makes decisions, would support such proposals.
Earlier, the Public Movement "Veterans of Russia" proposed to rename MS-21 and "Superjet" SJ-100 to "Yak-121" and "Yak-100", respectively.
They explained that such a measure would help reflect belonging to Russian aircraft manufacturing and historical heritage instead of English names.
