The Kazan Aircraft Plant is being modernized not only for the Tu-214. Its capacities can also be adapted for other types of aircraft. This was announced by Gennady Abramenkov, Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
According to him, the key guideline will be the demand from airlines for KAZ products. Abramenkov acknowledged a high demand for the Tu-214 from state aviation.
In addition, this aircraft is in high demand as a corporate aviation aircraft.
It should be noted that, in addition to the Tu-214, KAZ is fulfilling a defense order for the deep modernization of Tu-160M "White Swan" strategic bomber-missile carriers. New high-tech equipment has been built for them at the enterprise.
The Head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, stated that the Kazan Aircraft Plant will soon focus on "producing modern airliners". However, aviation expert Andrey Velichko refused to consider the Tu-214 as such, in comparison to the MS-21-310.
