The Russian military transport Il-76 will be transferred to the Military Training Center at Irkutsk National Research Technical University. Instead of performing combat missions, it will become part of the educational and laboratory base for training future officers of the engineering and aviation service.
The issue of transferring the aircraft has already been discussed with the command, which is interested in training specialists at the university.
In particular, the command of military transport aviation will work on the issue of transferring the flagship of military transport aviation – the Il-76 aircraft – to the VUC as a training aid. The presence of an aircraft will significantly improve the quality of training for our cadets.
The Il-76 will give cadets the opportunity to study the design and maintenance of a real heavy transport aircraft, and not just its individual systems on stands or simulators.
The head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, noted that increasing the production volumes of the Il-76 series at Aviastar will require investments of about 46 billion rubles.
