SJ-100 Production in Komsomolsk-on-Amur Goes Digital: Yakovlev Implements Electronic Aircraft Passport

The new system integrated production data and gave foremen full control over the readiness of components and assemblies

The assembly of Russian SJ-100 aircraft at the plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur has been switched to digital control: instead of paper technological passports, workers have started using an electronic product passport. The system was implemented by Yakovlev's Production Center to accelerate production, automate control, and reduce the number of errors during assembly.

Previously, a significant portion of workers' time was spent filling out paper documents during assembly. Analysis of the production process showed that a large share of a specialist's total involvement time in aircraft assembly was dedicated to working with technical documentation. Due to manual data entry, tens of thousands of errors were recorded annually.

After switching to the electronic passport, all information about operations performed, components, and quality control is stored in a digital system. Workers receive tasks through an electronic interface, can quickly open necessary diagrams and instructions, and the system automatically checks the correctness of operations.

The production also implemented scanning of part tags, thanks to which component data immediately enters the aircraft's electronic file. Foremen and controllers gained the ability to track the readiness of operations through a digital Kanban.

As a result of the implementation, the volume of paper documentation decreased by 75%, the time spent by workers filling out documents was halved, and specialist efficiency increased by approximately 6%. Control time for foremen and inspectors decreased by almost 45 minutes per shift.
