The Mikoyan and Gurevich bureau could lose up to 50% of its design staff if it merges with the Sukhoi bureau. This problem was highlighted by engineer Nikolay Chikunov, a current MiG employee.
In the event of a merger of the bureau with Sukhoi, OAK management expects to create a division that will consolidate all competencies in operational-tactical aviation.
However, the Mikoyan bureau would then lose half of its designers, as in the OTA Design Bureau, "more than 80% will be current employees of the Sukhoi Design Bureau." Chikunov did not elaborate on his calculations.
Simultaneously with the reorganization of MiG, OAK is approving the relocation of the Mikoyan Design Bureau's engineering center in Moscow. On a territory of almost 8 hectares on Leningradskoye Shosse, they plan to build residential apartment buildings.
"Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" in a large article analyzed why MiG-35 production was put on hold. Only six interceptor fighters were built, and there is no talk yet of a new MiG-41 project.
