The lifespan of the new PD-8 engine for the SJ-100 and Be-200 will be brought to its target value in 2027, increasing its lifespan by 20 times. This was stated by the head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov.
The minister admitted that for now, the PD-8 has a very modest flight cycle, but after receiving the type certificate, its improvement will accelerate.
By the end of the year, this lifespan will be increased by more than 20 times. By the end of next year, we will, in fact, reach the required 3000-plus hours.
The current overhaul life of the PD-8 engine is about 100–150 flight hours before the first repair. It was issued a type certificate specifically for limited flights.
But even in this state, the PD-8 surpasses the SaM146 in terms of specific fuel consumption by 10%, noted aviation expert Oleg Panteleev.
