The rise in gasoline prices and difficulties in acquiring it are beginning to affect not only carriers but also the driver training market. According to "Kommersant FM", private instructors are already increasing the cost of lessons by 5–10%, and in Moscow, an hour of individual training reaches 5 thousand rubles.

They teach during the day, search for fuel at night

The main reason is the increase in operating costs. During practice driving, a car consumes more fuel due to constant stops, accelerations, and maneuvers, and instructors have to spend extra time searching for fuel and waiting in lines at gas stations.

While large driving schools are trying to keep tuition costs down, industry representatives warn that if the situation persists, price increases will become inevitable. Additional pressure comes from changes in the driver training system: since March 2026, the number of practical driving hours has increased, and since September, new requirements have been introduced for instructors – they must now have pedagogical qualifications.

Today, training for category B in Moscow already costs 60–100 thousand rubles, while the average cost across Russia, according to "T-Zh", is about 43.5 thousand rubles. Experts also advise carefully studying the terms of the contract: some schools offer a low basic price but charge separately for lubricants, additional driving hours, and internal exams.

The industry expects that many training centers will revise their price lists in the autumn. If fuel costs remain high and the shortage persists, the costs of training new drivers may continue to rise.
