PD-8 Engine Has Not Entered Serial Production, Despite Promises

The market value of the Russian PD-8 engine, which is installed in the import-substituted version of the SJ-100, has not yet been formed. It will only be determined after the unit enters serial production, which has not yet happened, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade stated.

At the end of June, the United Engine Corporation announced that it had already begun assembling the first production PD-8 engines.

The newest power unit received a type certificate, which confirmed its compliance with airworthiness requirements and standards. After that, Rybinsk's "ODK-Saturn" announced that it had purchased 100 new machines for the production of engine kits.

Oleg Panteleev, executive director of the Aviaport agency, warned that the issuance of a type certificate for the PD-8 is not the end of the story. SJ-100 tests with the power unit are ongoing, and it is still necessary to overcome "teething problems".
