Roscosmos has published an image of the planetary nebula M57, known as the "Ring," which is located in the Lyra constellation. The glowing ring has a diameter of about one light-year, and the nebula's age is estimated to be approximately 6–8 thousand years. The object is about 2300 light-years away from Earth.
At the center of M57 is a white dwarf – a hot and super-dense core of a star once similar to the Sun. It is this core that illuminates the surrounding gas, creating the characteristic glow that makes the nebula one of the most recognizable deep-space objects.
The image was captured using a Celestron 9.25 telescope, ZWO AM5 mount, ASI676MM camera, and Antlia LRGB filters. Thanks to this equipment set, astronomers were able to capture the details of the nebula's structure with high clarity.
