The assembly of the new PD-8 engine differs little from the French-Russian SaM146 power plant. This was stated by Egor Matyushov, an assembly fitter at Rybinsk ODK-Saturn.
According to him, in the case of both units, the operations, tools, similar equipment, and control are the same.
But when I think that this unit consists entirely of our parts, which are created from materials specially developed for them, I feel proud. Now we do not depend on imports and someone else's decisions.
The new power plant will be useful for new "Superjets" and the re-engining of Be-200 amphibians. There was also a rumor that it would become the base for a new business jet in Ulyanovsk based on the SJ-100.
ODK noted that the creation of the PD-8 aircraft engine is unique in world experience. The development of the power plant took six years, such precedents have not yet existed.
