At the International Maritime Defense Show "Fleet-2026" in Kronstadt, a model of the P-750B "Serval" submarine was presented. This small non-nuclear submarine is designed to perform various combat and special tasks in coastal waters. The project was developed by the Malakhit Design Bureau, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.
The new submarine belongs to the class of coastal action submarines and is equipped with an air-independent propulsion system. Thanks to this solution, it is capable of continuous underwater operation for a route of 1,200 nautical miles without the need for regular surfacing to operate diesel systems.
The system is based on a closed-cycle gas turbine engine that operates both underwater and on the surface using diesel fuel. This scheme should increase the stealth and autonomy of the ship when performing tasks.
According to OSK, the armament composition of the P-750B "Serval" can vary depending on the nature of the operation. The submarine is designed to strike coastal targets, combat single surface ships and vessels, counter enemy submarines, conduct covert patrolling, and lay minefields.
In addition, the project provides for special operations. The submarine is capable of covertly delivering reconnaissance and sabotage groups to the mission area, ensuring their landing and subsequent evacuation.
The display of the P-750B "Serval" became one of the most notable premieres of the "Fleet-2026" show, demonstrating the Russian shipbuilding industry's course towards developing compact non-nuclear submarine platforms with an expanded set of capabilities for operations in the coastal zone.
Earlier, "Perviy Tekhnicheskiy" reported that the Project 971M "Leopard" nuclear submarine began sea trials after modernization in Severodvinsk. The submarine received the "Kalibr-PL" missile system and updated systems.
