The Russian-Indian enterprise BrahMos Aerospace has announced its readiness to fulfill an order for the supply of supersonic cruise missiles for the Russian army. This could involve versions for the Navy or ground forces. The decision depends on an official request from Russia, company representatives said on the sidelines of the IMDS "Flot-2026" in St. Petersburg.
According to Alexander Maksichev, co-managing director of the enterprise, production capacities allow for prompt fulfillment of a potential order, and the product parameters meet customer requirements.
The missile is being developed jointly with the Russian NPO Mashinostroyeniya and the Indian Defence Research & Development Organisation, and the enterprise itself was established in 1995 for the serial production of the complex.
We are ready to fulfill the order if there is an appeal from the Russian side. These will either be missiles for the Navy or for the ground forces. We have sufficient capacity, and we understand what the Russian side wants.
The BrahMos missile is produced in several basing variants – ground, sea, and air. It belongs to the class of supersonic cruise missiles and is used as an export product: the first foreign customer was the Philippines, which received batches of the complex in 2024 and 2025 as part of a multi-million dollar contract.
The situation surrounding potential supplies to Russia increases interest in the further development of joint defense programs and the expansion of the enterprise's production load.
