Russia's first large-scale production of microwave microchips will be launched at the Ural Federal University (UrFU) site within the "Kosmos" technopark. This was announced by the head of the Sverdlovsk region, Denis Pasler.
Pasler noted that work on the "Karat" project will be completed in 2027. The initial contract cost was 2.4 billion rubles; the final amount is unknown.
The Telegram channel "Russkoye Oruzhiye" stated that "Karat" products could be used in transceiver modules of radar stations for aviation and air defense.
This refers to the 96L6-TsP from the S-350A "Vityaz" SAM system or the MRLS "Yenisei" from the S-500 "Prometey" and S-400 "Triumf" SAM systems, as well as the N036 "Belka" airborne radars of Su-57 fighters.
