Russian "BORT" Security System Debuts on Uzbekistan's Mainline Electric Locomotives

TMH equipped two O'zbekiston series locomotives with a motion control and video surveillance system

The first O’zbekiston series mainline electric locomotives equipped with the "BORT" locomotive motion safety system have been put into operation in Uzbekistan. The supply of equipment, its setup, and implementation support were carried out by "Transtelesoft", a company within TMH.

As part of the project, specialists installed a security complex, a video surveillance system, and radio stations, and also ensured the execution of installation and commissioning works.

The complex allows controlling train movement and preventing emergency situations. The video system records what is happening in the driver's cab and the engine room, and also records events and infrastructure objects along the locomotive's route.

Static and dynamic tests of the system on the O’zbekiston 0001 electric locomotive have been successfully completed. The test program was pre-approved by Tashkent State Transport University, after which it was approved by the national railway operator "Uzbekiston temir yullari".

Among the features of the complex are touch-sensitive liquid crystal displays, a user-friendly interface without the need for constant code input, and high-speed data exchange via an Ethernet network. The system complies with the requirements of technical regulation TR TS 001/2011 and has a safety integrity level of SIL 4.

Today, "BORT" is installed on more than 800 units of rolling stock in countries with a 1520 mm railway gauge, including Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
