8.2 km and 250 supports: a giant bridge for the HSR is being built in Tver Oblast

Hundreds of specialists continue to form the foundation of one of the largest railway crossings

In Tver Oblast, construction of the Moscow – St. Petersburg high-speed railway has begun with the installation of channel supports for the bridge over the Shosha River. The company "Natsproektstroy" is carrying out work on one of the project's key engineering structures.

The bridge, over 8.2 km long, along with its approaches, rests on 250 supports. Four supports need to be built in the channel section of the Shosha. Bored piles are already being driven into two of them, and sheet piling for the foundation pits is being installed on the other two.

To provide access to the water area from both banks, two temporary working bridges have been erected. These temporary structures do not connect over the river to maintain navigability.

Concurrently, in the floodplain of the Shosha, the construction of pile foundations and grillage continues. Work is underway on 186 supports here. In total, 469 specialists and 61 units of equipment are involved in the construction.

The project is among the most ambitious sections of the future high-speed railway and forms the basis of one of the route's largest bridge crossings.
