Russian sappers have started using the portable wireless inspection device "Sfera" for humanitarian demining of territories. It identifies mines, booby traps, and other types of explosive objects. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defence.
"Sfera" is designed for video and audio monitoring in hard-to-reach and potentially dangerous areas. The device is a sphere equipped with 4 video cameras with LED backlighting, a microphone, and a transmitter.
Thanks to its positioning system, when thrown into a building, it always lands in an upright position. Then, "Sfera" transmits data from all cameras to the operator's monitor.
