Geran-2 drones were used for the first time to eliminate uncrewed boats in the Black Sea. Footage of their combat use appeared on social media.
It should be noted that the defeat of moving BECs using Geran-2 drones became possible thanks to the installation of optoelectronic guidance systems with artificial intelligence elements.
While the basic version of Geran-2 flew along pre-set coordinates using satellite and inertial systems, an optical guidance head now helps it against fast BECs.
Apparently, the drone was equipped with single-board computers capable of processing video streams in real time. The neural network independently recognizes the silhouette of the boat on the water, locks onto it as a target, and issues commands to the rudders for a precise ram.
The official characteristics of Geran-2 were also revealed. The drone accelerates to 190 km/h and flies a maximum range of up to 1800 km.
