One of the reasons for delays and downtime in Tu-214 production was the Kazan Aircraft Plant's dependence on foreign components. This was reported by Kirov Oblast Governor Alexander Sokolov.
According to him, the Omutninsk Metallurgical Plant has already established direct contact with KAZ and offered to supply the necessary products within Russia.
It turned out that Kazan buys some components abroad, which causes downtime. And we can supply these products at any time and in any quantity.
Amid supply problems, the Tu-214 remains one of the key projects of the Russian aircraft industry. Mikhail Rozhkov, a former employee of the Civil Aviation Research Institute, previously noted that this aircraft could become the industry's main option for the next five years.
However, the program requires expanding production capacities and accelerating cooperation between Russian enterprises. Currently, the Kazan Aircraft Plant is gradually building up its base for serial production of airliners.
