Krasnoyarsk Metro Construction Slows Down: Chinese Shield "Evgeniya" Digs, Other Five Stand Still

7.2 km of new tunnels completed, 13.5 km still ahead

The construction of the Krasnoyarsk light rail metro has practically stalled, NGS24.RU found out. Of the six tunnel boring machines involved in laying the first line, only one remains in operation – the Chinese shield "Evgeniya," which is tunneling from "Vysotnaya" station to "Kopylova." The other five machines – "Ekaterina," "Solomeya," "Anastasiya," "Irina," and "Valentina" – are underground and motionless. The last one has not moved since autumn 2025.

According to the Telegram channel "Krasnoyarskoye Metro," 7.2 km of new tunnels have been completed in 20 months of active work, and including the old section of 2.3 km, which still needs to be repaired, the total length of excavations is about 9.5 km out of 23 planned. Another 13.5 km remains to be laid.

The channel also published a map of the completed sections, which shows that "Evgeniya" has passed 2 out of 2.6 km, while "Ekaterina" and "Solomeya," before stopping, managed to lay 2.24 and 2.25 km respectively from "Shakhtyorov" station to "Karla Marksa." "Anastasiya" and "Irina" covered 669 and 99 meters on the section from Revolution Square to the railway station.

The financial background of the downtime emerged in the Arbitration Court's case file, which NGS24.RU reviewed. Since the beginning of the year, 20 lawsuits have been filed against the subcontractor "Bamtunnelstroy-Krasnoyarsk," one of which resulted in the seizure of accounts. Earlier, at the end of 2025, disputes arose between the general contractor "Mosproekt-3" and "BTS," and dump truck drivers blocked access to construction sites due to salary delays.

Contractors have already received 30.5 billion rubles, almost 90% of which are advances. However, the volume of actually completed and accepted work is only 6.4%. The project cost may increase from 87.4 to 130 billion rubles, and the completion date has been postponed from 2026 to 2028.
