Import-substituted SJ-100 tires lost to Michelin by 2.5 times

Domestic tires from ASHK are designed for 100 take-off and landing cycles, while foreign ones are for 250

The Altay Tire Plant (ASHK) has developed domestic aircraft tires for the import-substituted SJ-100. The new tires have already been installed on the prototype aircraft, which is undergoing certification tests in Zhukovsky.

OAK clarified that during landing, the speed reaches about 250 km/h, the tire temperature rises to +150 °C during braking, and drops to -60 °C at altitude.

The service life of domestic tires is about 100 take-off and landing cycles under maximum loads. For comparison, similar Michelin products withstand up to 250 cycles.

Thus, the current version of FIR tires is inferior to foreign solutions in terms of service life by approximately 2.5 times.

However, the key objective of the project is not only characteristics but also technological independence. Domestic tires are already integrated into the SJ-100 testing program.
