"Sibur" is considering increasing the production capacity of the Amur Gas Chemical Complex (GHK) – the volume of polymer output could grow from the projected 2.7 million tons to approximately 3 million tons per year. This was announced by the company's executive director, Pavel Lyakhovich.
According to him, such growth is possible by eliminating so-called "bottlenecks" in production. Practice shows that such measures can increase enterprise efficiency by 10-15% without significant modernization.
I think it will be exactly the same here. But this, of course, will not be in 2027, but beyond 2028. There are measures to expand these "bottlenecks" solely through organizational efforts, and there are those that require additional investments. Then it will be necessary to see if these investments are justified.
The Amur Gas Chemical Complex is one of the largest petrochemical projects in Russia. It is a joint venture between "Sibur" (60%) and Sinopec (40%), which will produce polyethylene and polypropylene. The design capacity is up to 2.7 million tons of polymers per year, and the total budget exceeds 10 billion dollars.
The company admits that further production increases will depend on economic feasibility and the volume of investments.
