Fraudsters have started using a new scheme — under the guise of an invitation to a house chat in Telegram, they lure people into giving them codes from SMS messages. This is warned by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The scenario begins with a message supposedly from the "chairman" of the management company. The victim is written to that a common chat is being created for the house, and in order to get there, you need to copy the code from the SMS and send it back.
To inspire confidence, fraudsters indicate the real data of the resident — name, address or other information. As a result, the person is sure that he is communicating with a representative of the UK, and follows the instructions.
After that, the scheme moves to the second stage. "Security forces" join the conversation, who declare that the account on "Gosuslugi" has been hacked. Then the pressure begins: the victim is frightened and persuaded to transfer money "for protection".
The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes: under no circumstances should you give codes from SMS to strangers, even if the message looks official.
