A shipborne tactical group of the Kola Flotilla, consisting of the small missile ship (MRK) "Rassvet" (Project 1234.1), small anti-submarine ships (MPK Project 1124M) "Yunga" and "Snezhnogorsk", conducted artillery firing in the Barents Sea. This was reported by the press service of the Northern Fleet.
The sailors practiced joint firing from various distances at targets simulating surface ships and unmanned boats of a mock enemy. They also practiced repelling an attack from the air.
The training of ship crews was carried out taking into account the peculiarities of modern armed combat at sea.
The Kola Flotilla of diverse forces is part of the Northern Fleet. Its headquarters are located in the city of Polyarny, Murmansk Region. In addition to surface ships - MRK, MRK and basic minesweepers, the flotilla includes diesel submarines of Project 877 "Paltus". All submarines were commissioned before 1991.
The key tasks of the Kola Flotilla are to protect maritime borders, ensure the operational deployment of submarines and combat potential enemy submarines. In addition, naval sailors can provide fire support to ground forces in the coastal directions. In this region, Russia borders Norway by sea, and Finland by land. Both states are members of the NATO military-political bloc.
