"Tupolev" declassified a competitor to Boeing and Airbus: the Tu-454 project was shown in Kazan

Preliminary, the aircraft will receive two promising PD-26 engines

In Kazan, at the XX Russian Venture Forum, the Tupolev enterprise (part of the UAC of Rostec) for the first time unofficially presented a model of the promising Tu-454 passenger aircraft, reports the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies. According to available data, the new machine belongs to the class of Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 XWB — the most modern long-range wide-body aircraft in the world.

These aircraft are the flagships of world civil aviation. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which made its first flight in 2009, is 50% composed of composite materials, which ensures a 20–25% reduction in fuel consumption compared to its predecessors. It is distinguished by large portholes with electronic dimming and increased humidity in the cabin, which reduces passenger fatigue. The Airbus A350 XWB, which took to the skies in 2013, uses even more composites (52%) and is equipped with the most economical Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. Both aircraft are capable of carrying 250–350 passengers up to 15,000 km without refueling.

The Tu-454, according to preliminary data, should be equipped with two promising PD-26 engines. The timing of a possible launch of the program and other technical characteristics of the aircraft have not yet been reported. There have been no official comments from the United Aircraft Corporation at the moment.
