Scammers have come up with a new scheme to deceive Russians — they offer to top up their Apple ID wallet amid problems with paying for subscriptions, said Alexandra Pozharskaya, an expert at the Moshelovka platform.
According to her, in early April, against the backdrop of news about the termination of Apple ID payment support from a mobile phone account and the fact that it would become technically impossible to subscribe to Telegram Premium, the number of messages with signs of fraud increased sharply. They are recorded on social networks, messengers, forums and classifieds sites.
Attackers offer "inexpensive or even free assistance in bypassing restrictions." Some act as intermediaries and take a small percentage for processing the payment. Others distribute phishing links — allegedly to a "new bypass service." Helper bots are also used, which collect payment and personal data of victims, as well as malicious applications that gain full access to the device.
