On March 22, the Russian restaurant brand "Kofemania" plans to become the first in the country whose drinks will go to the International Space Station. The delivery will take place on board the "Progress MS-33" space truck - this is a standard means of supplying the ISS, which ensures the regular transfer of cargo from Earth to orbit.
The payload will include two items: freeze-dried filter coffee of the "Ethiopia Arbegona" variety and a rosehip-based drink. The brand's technologists spent about a year bringing the recipes to a working state, conducting more than twenty iterations. The main task was to preserve the aromatic profile and ensure stable solubility in microgravity conditions. The key process was freeze-drying: the product is frozen, then moisture is removed in a vacuum, bypassing the liquid phase. The method allows you to retain up to 95% of volatile aromatic compounds and do without preservatives during long-term storage.
The project is being implemented jointly with Roscosmos. Representatives of the company noted that the goal is not just to deliver a familiar taste to orbit, but also to work out the logistics for food products in a format compatible with the requirements of the manned program. The packaging has undergone a series of tests for tightness, resistance to pressure drops and safety for the station's on-board systems.
On April 12, on Cosmonautics Day, the brand will present an expanded thematic line on Earth. The menu will include the "Roscosmos" dessert, inside which a yellow candy marker will be randomly placed. The one who finds it will receive the main prize - a flight on the Il-76MDK laboratory aircraft. The program includes 100 minutes in the air and ten modes of parabolic maneuvering, creating conditions of real weightlessness. The flight will be controlled by current cosmonauts and engineers of the training center.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the online cinema "Kinopoisk" will for the first time show the launch of the "Progress MS-33" rocket live.
