Il-114-300 Arrived at Talagi Airfield for Icing Tests

Tests of three models of Russian airliners will be conducted at the Arkhangelsk airport base

The Il-114-300 turboprop airliner landed at Talagi Airport near Arkhangelsk. Here, the aircraft will undergo a series of test flights in natural icing conditions. The arrival of the aircraft was reported by the press service of Rostec.

According to the state corporation, the import-substituted SSJ-New and MC-21 are already operating in Arkhangelsk, also performing the certification flight program. Now, the Il-114-300, a regional turboprop aircraft developed by the United Aircraft Corporation, has joined them.

The new model is being created for the development of local airlines. It is capable of operating autonomously from small airfields and short runways. Certification covers a wide range of climatic conditions: from Arctic latitudes and Siberian frosts to mountainous regions and hot regions.

The aircraft is equipped with fully domestic systems and units. The power plant consists of TV7-117ST-01 engines manufactured by UEC. This ensures independence from foreign supplies and simplifies maintenance at regional airports.

Testing in natural icing conditions is a key stage of certification. They will confirm the operability of the aircraft's systems at low temperatures and high humidity. The test results will be included in the final report for obtaining permission to operate.
