At Zhukovsky Research Center explained why startups don't work in the aviation industry

Andrey Dutov: the founder of a startup must have an understanding of who he will sell the idea to

In complex projects of the domestic aviation industry, the idea of startups does not always work, since the author of the idea sometimes does not understand the needs of large companies. This was stated by Andrey Dutov, General Director of the Zhukovsky National Research Center.

According to him, there is a dispute in the professional environment about what is better — startups or the classical scheme of science. Dutov noted that he had also heard a lot about startups from foreign colleagues.

But startups don't work in complex projects. The founder of a startup must immediately have an understanding of who he will sell this idea to. And you can sell to a large corporation. But you need to know exactly what she needs. And this means that first he needs to work in this corporation.

For this reason, many production difficulties are solved directly by workers on the spot. For example, recently at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, employees independently optimized the descaling process.

Dmitry Semenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Transinvest LLC, noted that the key problem of the domestic aviation industry remains a shortage of qualified personnel. Investment opportunities of customers and time frames also play a significant role.
