The new "Product 30" cruise missile for strategic Tu-95MSM and Tu-160M bombers will replace the high-precision Kh-101, becoming a simpler and more economical alternative. Military analyst Alexey Vasiliev spoke about the characteristics of the ammunition.
According to him, "Product 30" will provide a more flexible approach to engaging targets and increase the overall effectiveness of combat operations.
An innovative feature is the satellite navigation system with a jam-resistant receiver, which indicates a transition to more modern technologies in the development of Russian missile technology.
Vasiliev added that the developments in the use of jam-resistant receivers are becoming a standard solution on classic cruise missiles, and not only on aerial bombs.
A mass-produced and inexpensive cruise missile with a warhead of about 200–250 kg is emerging, a heavy missile weighing 800 kilograms, a missile with an increased range, jamming systems on board, and a universal warhead — weighing 500 kg. The era of conventional high-explosive aerial bombs is essentially over.
As a reminder, "Product 30" has a wingspan of about 3 m, a warhead of about 800 g, and a range of at least 1500 km. The missile's navigation system includes the Kometa-M12 jam-resistant satellite signal receiver. There is no official information about the characteristics of the missile yet.
