About BAM
BAM is one of the largest railway lines in the world. Its active construction took place between 1974 and 1984. Most of the track was laid in a seismically active zone and in a permafrost zone.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that BAM helped the development of Siberia and the Far East. He instructed to lay a second track and electrify the mainline. Russian Railways plans to build more than 2,000 km of tracks by 2032.
