The ongoing certification tests of the MC-21-310 medium-range import-substituted aircraft have sparked debate among German users online. They shared their opinions about the aircraft in the comments to a video on the aviation-focused YouTube channel JetKern.
Viewers of the channel most supported a comment from a subscriber with the nickname User-lo2hp9cz8q. According to him, Russia's abandonment of aircraft construction in the 90s was a big mistake, but now the country is reviving the industry, following the example of China.
In 2035, Airbus and Boeing will realize what is happening when China and Russia start building comparable aircraft. The future belongs to aircraft with extremely efficient and inexpensive power plants. China, Russia, and India, which account for 3 billion people, will certainly compete in this market. The MC-21 will be equal to Airbus and Boeing in 10 years.
User T-BwBerlinKarlshorst added that the MC-21-310 was sabotaged in the Western Hemisphere, but it was created on cooperation and peaceful coexistence, not on sanctions and other economic obstacles.
Russia itself developed and built all the equipment and implemented it in the aircraft. In a very short time, they created their own software. In just two and a half years. Keep dreaming. Ultimately, the new MC-21-310 is actually a new aircraft with 100% Russian components, having very little in common with the MC-21-300.
As a reminder, the progress level of MC-21-310 certification is at 75%. In February, the aircraft flew a record 112 hours.
Aviation expert Oleg Panteleev noted that the MC-21-310 platform is technically more advanced than the Boeing 737 MAX, Airbus A320neo, or the Chinese C919.
