Aeroflot, S7, and Pobeda will continue to evacuate Russian tourists from the United Arab Emirates amid the escalation in the Middle East. At least seven flights are scheduled for March 5, according to press releases from the airlines.
Aeroflot will operate two flights from Abu Dhabi and one from Dubai to Moscow. S7 will send one flight from Dubai. Pobeda has scheduled three flights — from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Fujairah. Russian airlines began operating evacuation flights from the UAE on March 3. Red Wings also announced an evacuation flight from Muscat.
The closure of airspace in the region was a consequence of strikes on objects in Iran, which the US and Israel began to carry out on February 28. Iran is carrying out retaliatory strikes on Israeli territory and US military facilities in the region. Neighboring Arab countries were also under threat, forced to completely or partially close their airspace. The largest number of stranded Russian tourists is concentrated in the UAE.
