Engineers at the K.A. Timiryazev Russian State Agrarian University have developed a prototype of a hybrid tractor based on the MTZ-82.1 model. The project focuses on reducing harmful emissions and increasing the energy efficiency of agricultural machinery.

The machine is made according to the scheme of a parallel hybrid. It can operate in three modes — only on an internal combustion engine, exclusively on an electric motor, or in a combined version.

An electric motor with a capacity of 30 kW provides the performance of basic agricultural operations, and in conjunction with an internal combustion engine, the total power reaches 100 kW, rising to the level of more productive models.

The key advantage is the use of standard factory components. This reduces the cost of modernization and makes the project accessible to owners of MTZ tractors. The hybrid is suitable for operation in greenhouses and livestock complexes due to reduced noise and emissions.

The development has already been presented at a specialized seminar, and the tractor has received positive feedback. Laboratory tests are scheduled for March, and field tests are scheduled for May.
