The Rossiyskie zheleznye dorogi holding, together with the company Dorogi i mosty, is beginning construction of ten specialized production sites focused on manufacturing structural elements for artificial structures on the country’s first domestic high-speed railway line (HSR) connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg. As reported by the RZhD press service, the holding’s board of directors has approved all necessary financial mechanisms for implementing the project.
According to the plan, the first reinforced concrete beams will begin to be produced as early as April 2026. The technological specifics of the project are determined by the scale of the engineering structures: about 30% of the HSR route will run on overpasses and bridges with a total length of around 180 kilometers. Their construction will require more than 5,000 box-type reinforced concrete beams measuring 32 meters in length and weighing more than 700 tons each.
The creation of local production capacities will make it possible to minimize logistics costs and ensure uninterrupted delivery of critically important structures directly to construction sections. The project aligns with the import substitution strategy in railway construction and creates a foundation for developing domestic competencies in the field of high-speed transport.
